Accomplishing Goals 101: Create a Vision Board
Why should I create a vision board?
A vision board helps you clarify and visualize your goals.
By seeing your goals every day, it will keep your mind on your goals. Your
vision board should represent what you want your life to look like.
The first step in creating a vision board is to figure out
what your goals are. Your vision board should closely represent the goals you
want to achieve. What are your goals? Write them down. Think about what goals
you have for each area of your life. The categories you should think about when
creating your vision board include:
·
Health and Fitness – Do you
want to get in shape? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to eat healthier?
·
Career – Do you want a
raise or promotion? Do you want to change your career completely and start on a
new path?
·
Education – Do you want to
go back to school? What books do you want to read? What skills do you want to
learn?
·
Emotional health – What makes
you happy? What would get you out of your slump?
·
Relationships – Do you want
more friends? Do you want a boyfriend or potentially a husband? Do you want
children?
After you’ve created a list of your goals, it’s time to put
them on your board. Search through magazines and online. Collect the images,
quotes, etc. that make you feel good about yourself. Your board should not only
include the things you want but how you want to feel. Put things on your board
that make you feel great. Maybe they are pictures from events that you went to
that you’d like to do again.
You can also include positive quotes and daily affirmations.
Daily affirmations are affirming statements that you say out loud to yourself
on a regular basis. By repeating your affirmations, it retrains your subconscious
mind with positive thoughts, removing the negative thoughts that are preventing
you from accomplishing your goals.
Let your vision board serve as a reminder of your goals and
daily affirmations. Put your board somewhere that you will give you the ability
to look at it daily. Constantly remind yourself of your goals.
You can create your vision board many different ways. You
can get a pin or magnet board and use tacks to hang up the items you want to
look at. You can get a poster board and glue everything to the poster board. If
you’re tech savvy, you can create a digital vision board and use it as your
phone, tablet, or computer background.
Let your vision board serve as a constant reminder of who
you intend to be. I’ve given you a few tips on creating one and at this point,
there are no excuses. Create your board, accomplish your goals!
